Hello, Nakuru! 🌟

It’s time for a fresh chapter in our county’s leadership, and I, Geoffrey Gitau Mwangi, CPA, am thrilled to officially announce my candidacy for the governorship of Nakuru County. Having been born and raised in this vibrant region, I have a deep connection to the people, cultures, and traditions that make Nakuru truly unique. And now, more than ever, our county needs a leader who not only understands these values but also has the vision and drive to lead us into a prosperous future.

For too long, Nakuru has witnessed the arrival of leaders who promise change but fail to deliver real progress. These leaders often lack a true understanding of the heart and soul of our county—the hardworking communities, the rich diversity, and the countless possibilities that lie within. It’s time for Nakuru to have leadership that genuinely listens and understands the challenges we face while embracing the opportunities that can lift every resident.

As the former CEO of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), I bring with me a proven track record of effective leadership and public service. During my time at NHIF, I spearheaded initiatives like the Linda Mama program, ensuring that millions of mothers had access to quality healthcare. My experience managing large, complex systems has equipped me to lead Nakuru County with the same efficiency, dedication, and focus on delivering tangible results.

But my vision for Nakuru goes beyond healthcare. I believe that together, we can harness our county’s unique strengths—our diverse cultures, our rich resources, and our resilient people—to build an inclusive future where every tribe and every community feels represented. Nakuru is a microcosm of Kenya’s diversity, and we must celebrate this as our greatest strength. My leadership will ensure that no group is left behind, that there’s no place for discrimination, and that every voice, no matter how small, is heard.

Unity in diversity is at the heart of my campaign. I am running for governor because I believe in Nakuru’s potential to become a shining example of what inclusive, people-centered leadership can achieve. We will work together to create opportunities for youth, empower small businesses, improve infrastructure, and ensure every resident has access to quality services. My vision is to build a county where our rich cultural heritage thrives alongside economic development, where peace and unity reign, and where every Nakuru resident can pursue their dreams.
